Forest Service Recreation Area
Morganton Point is the only developed campground on Lake Blue Ridge. It is a great spot for camping, fishing, swimming and boating. The campground opens in April and closes at the end of October. Dates may vary due to weather and water levels. There are 43 camp sites available, 16 of which are lakefront and two group sites. Each site has a ground mounted cooking grill, picnic table, lantern pole and tent pad. Bathrooms, one of which has hot showers. City water is available.
The picnic area has eight tables, and the covered picnic shelter is available by reservation. Morganton Point Swimming Area is a pebble beach, so be sure to bring some water shoes. Concessions include kayak and paddle board rentals, hot dogs and snacks.
There is a paved boat ramp 1/4 mile west of the campground and beach. Boat trailer parking is available in picnic area.
From McDonald’s restaurant at the intersection of GA Hwy. 515 and GA Hwy. 5 in Blue Ridge. Follow GA Hwy. 515 east (toward Blairsville) approx 4.5 miles to traffic light and junction with GA Hwy. 60. Turn right on GA Hwy. 60. Continue on Hwy. 60 for 2.0 miles into Morganton. Turn right on Lake Drive and follow sign about ½ mile to campground entrance on left. Fee station is on right at entrance of campground next to campground host site. See map inside.
Campsites: $18.00 - 36 per night/per site depending on location, size and use of electric hook-ups.
Picnic area & swimming area $5.00 per vehicle. Registered campers swim free. Picnic shelter reservations $25.00. The shelter can be reserved through the National Recreation Reservation System.
