Hiking, waterfalls, whitewater rafting, trout fishing, ziplining, there's something fun and exciting for outdoor enthusiasts of all ages.
Two of the greatest outdoor adventures in the world begin at the southern border of Fannin County in the Chattahoochee National Forest. Both the Appalachian and the Benton MacKaye Trail start at the top of Springer Mountain. The Appalachian Trail begins a 2,000+ mile journey to Maine. Hike to several beautiful local waterfalls. You can also hike to the Swinging Bridge on the Toccoa River. The Toccoa River is a popular destination for tubing, canoeing, kayaking and rafting for kids of all ages.
On Lake Blue Ridge rent a pontoon, paddle board or kayak at the Lake Blue Ridge Marina or at Morganton Point Recreation Area. For the adventure of a lifetime, go whitewater rafting on the Ocoee River. Georgia's Blue Ridge is the Trout Fishing Capital of Georgia, and fish are stocked regularly in Fannin County streams by the Chattahoochee National Fish Hatchery.
