Overview
Appalachia is rich with culture, and when you get a group of folks without a ton of outside influence together for hundreds of years, the stories become fantastical.
The Folk invite y'all for a summer evening of food, fire, and folklore. Around the circle of stones we will discuss some of the roots of Appalachian folklore from boogers and haints, cryptids, and how nature and observation plays a huge roll in explaining things before science was involved. We'll dine on campfire fare of hotdogs, and the fixings, homemade soup or chili, and finish off with s'mores as we also tell folk tales simply to help keep a bit of our mountain culture alive.
This event will be outside, so no fancy shoes or clothes. chairs and tables are also limited, but we have plenty of quilts, so be sure that getting up and down off the ground is plausible.
*in true Appalachian fashion, a number of the tales can be quite..... frightening, so this event is not recommended for small children unless they grew up like we did!*
