Mama Won't Fly by Jones Hope Wooten
Main Stage Performance
Directed by Mike Lacy
Mama Won’t Fly is a laugh-out-loud Southern comedy about family, chaos, and the lengths we’ll go to for the ones we love. When Savannah Sprunt Fairchild Honeycutt agrees to drive her feisty, stubborn mother from Alabama to California for her brother’s wedding, what should be a simple road trip turns into a cross-country adventure filled with quirky characters, outrageous mishaps, and heartfelt revelations. Joined by the bride-to-be, this unlikely trio discovers that the road to family harmony is as bumpy as it is hilarious.
Written by the beloved playwriting trio of Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope, and Jamie Wooten (creators of The Hallelujah Girls and Dearly Beloved), Mama Won’t Fly has become a favorite on community and regional stages for its outrageous humor and heartfelt Southern charm. While it has not received major theatrical awards, it continues to delight audiences nationwide with its fast-paced comedy and relatable family dynamics.
