This Thanksgiving, take part in one of the largest races in the Blue Ridge area.
Thanks to its nearly 700 runners that turnout year after year and the event’s status as a local tradition, Thanksgiving in Blue Ridge wouldn’t really be the same without the annual Turkey Trot. The trot is a huge event, bringing together a wide range of participants, from experienced runners to first-timers to casual walkers, and more.
Whether you’re looking to join by yourself, as a team, or as an assistant to a participant, the Turkey Trot has a spot for you. Register for the event, lace up your shoes, and get your body moving before a long day of good company and comforting food.

The Turkey Trot is an annual 5K event held in the downtown area that offers both runners and walkers the chance to participate in a Blue Ridge traditional race.
When: November 26, 2026 | 7:30 AM - 9 AM

A portion of the proceeds goes to local programs that support our community. Every year, the Mountain Area Christian Academy selects a charity for the Turkey Trot to donate to.

Blue Ridge Park will act as a hub of registration, volunteers, and the nearby starting place. There is ample parking in the area, ideal for racers. In addition to the many side streets that provide street parking options, the First Baptist Church has two parking lots available for use.

What is the Blue Ridge Turkey Trot’s start time?
Registration opens at 7:30 AM. The race starts at 8 AM on November 26, 2026.
Where can I pick up my runner’s packet?
Your runner’s packet and t-shirt will be available for pickup on November 25, 2026, at the downtown Children’s Park between 11 AM and 4 PM.
Please keep in mind that shirts are given out on a first-come, first-served basis. The Turkey Trot orders shirts based on a projected number and may not have your size available, depending on turnout.
If this is the case, participants will be given the opportunity to choose from a previous year’s shirt; however, these too will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis.
What is the policy if the event is cancelled?
The Turkey Trot is a rain-or-shine event, but severe weather may lead to the trot’s cancellation. If this happens, there will be no rescheduling of the event.
What if I can no longer attend the Turkey Trot after signing up?
There are no refunds available for no-shows or cancellations.
Is the trot kid-friendly?
Yes! Make your Turkey Trot experience a family affair by bringing the whole fam. Keep in mind that children over the age of 11 will need to be registered in order to participate. Children 11 and under will be permitted to walk/run for free so long as they are accompanied by a registered adult.
Is the event accessible?
Yes. The event takes place on the closed streets surrounding the downtown area, providing a flat and level surface for participants. Additionally, the trot welcomes push assists for those who require assistance.
Are there awards for the top runners in the Turkey Trot?
Yes, there will be medals presented to the top three runners in both the male and female categories. There are also trophies for the fastest boy and girl in the 10-year age brackets.
