Located just 90 miles north of Atlanta via I-575, Fannin County is Georgia's gateway to the Blue Ridge Mountains, the southern tip of the Appalachians. It is located on the Tennessee, North Carolina line. History Fannin County was created in 1854 from portions of Union County and Gilmer County, with Morganton as the first county seat.
