In this one-day workshop, students will learn techniques for creating “snowflakes” from stained glass. The result will be a stained-glass creation from 5” to 8” in diameter, which can be enjoyed all year-round. Students will be able to select pre-cut geometric shapes from a variety of textures of glass and add glass gems to fit between the points, focusing on the stability of the structure of the glass snowflake. Students will learn techniques used in the copper foil method of the stained-glass process including foiling, soldering, setting hangers, applying patina, and glass polishing. All the supplies needed will be provided by the instructor, but students need to bring personal safety glasses, medium black sharpies, pencil and paper, paper towels, and wear closed heel and toe shoes and clothes that you do not mind getting messy.
