Novelist Charles arranges for medium Madame Arcati to hold a séance to learn more about the occult. But she inadvertently summons Charles's first wife, Elvira, who makes desperate efforts to disrupt Charles's current marriage to Ruth, even putting him in harm’s way so he can join her as a spirit!
