Overview
Located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, Mercier Orchards is a fourth-generation, family- and veteran-owned apple orchard founded in 1943 by Bill and Adele Mercier.
From apple picking and tractor rides to hard cider tastings and a world-famous bakery, Mercier Orchards offers a wide range of products and activities that bring people together to appreciate the simple joys of life. It’s a place where generations connect, and everyone can experience the magic of the harvest season, whether you're local or just visiting.
Tractor Rides & U-Pick Tours
Throughout the year, Mercier Orchards offers guided tractor tours through the fields, allowing guests to see and learn about the beautiful 80 year-old farm. The orchard grows over 40 varieties of apples, along with strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and more. During the harvest seasons for these fruits, these tractor tours transform into their famous U-Pick events, where guests head out into the orchards to pick their own fresh fruit. It is a popular activity for families, especially during the summer berry and fall apple seasons!
Mercier's Bakery
Located onsite in the market, the bakery at Mercier Orchards is best known for crafting some of the most famous fried apple pies in the mountains. They offer a variety of flavors, including apple, peach, blueberry, chocolate, coconut, and many more. Beyond their legendary fried pies, the bakery also serves up fresh apple cider donuts, muffins, fritters, and breads. There’s always something delicious to try!
Winery & Hard Cidery
Did you know that Mercier Orchards was one of the first apple orchards in Georgia to grow, press, ferment, and can their very own hard cider? They craft their ciders, as well as numerous wines, right onsite at their cider house using the fruits they harvest, including apples, strawberries, peaches, and more. Visit the tasting room to sample their creations, alongside a curated selection of local and regional beverages.
Sample Counter for Fresh Fruits and Goods
The market at Mercier Orchards carries an incredible variety of farm-fresh goods and treats. The sample counter is your chance to taste the many goodies Mercier’s has to offer before taking them home. Here, you can sample fruits currently in season, as well as select farm-favorite jams, jellies, apple butters, sauces, salsas, and local honeys available in the market.
Beverage Station
Looking for something to sip on while you browse the orchards and market? The beverage station serves a variety of refreshing drinks, from sweet tea to fresh juices. Perhaps the most notable treats for guests are their famous fruit slushies, the perfect way to cool off on hotter days at the farm.
Candy Kitchen
Tucked near the bakery in the back of the store, the candy kitchen is filled to the brim with sugary confections, a true testament to generations of sweet traditions. Mercier’s has been crafting these treats using recipes passed down and perfected over the decades. Whether you’re searching for candied apples, candied nuts, homemade fudge, ice cream, or apple brittle, you are sure to find something to satisfy your sweet tooth.
