The Perfect Weekend Getaway
Now, when you think of Blue Ridge, you think of a lovely secluded cabin with stunning mountain views, right? Are you the kind of person who buys groceries and stays inside enjoying the gorgeous views, hot tubs and snuggling with your loved one(s)? That’s one way to do it.
Escape to Bungalow 46 in Blue Ridge
But, what if you could have your own bungalow in the heart of Blue Ridge? That’s what my hubby and I enjoyed last fall. Bungalow 46 is just steps away from all the fun shops and restaurants in Blue Ridge. I am not gonna lie, we were a little concerned that being in such close proximity to all the excitement, fearing we wouldn’t rest well. But we couldn’t have been more wrong. Not only was our little cabin exceptionally decorated, we rested well night after night.
Upon arriving, we immediately noticed the well-appointed furnishings throughout what we called “our home” for the next couple evenings. The comfy sofas were perfect for lounging and watching TV, should we want. Plus, our host even left us coffee and our very own Blue Ridge mugs to enjoy. Oh, and the bed? It was super comfortable. I almost wished we hadn’t had morning activities as I would have loved to linger a bit longer sipping on my coffee in bed. But, it was nice to know that we could walk to shopping and dining during our stay in Blue Ridge. And, we surely did. We were just a short walk from the shops on Main Street, dining and even the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway for a festive train ride! Bungalow 46 is ideal for movie buffs, those with kids and even as a romantic getaway. The common areas for dining and lounging allow ample room, but the coolest part is the upstairs loft which is a movie lover’s dream. With a huge comfy seating arrangement and games, it sets the scene for a perfect night for a family or for cozying up with your sweetheart during a romantic movie. Before you think you have to stay in a remote cabin when heading to Blue Ridge, consider Bungalow 46, rented by Mountain Top Cabin Rentals.

Cucina Rustica
Though not technically in Blue Ridge, Cucina Rustica is definitely the spot for foodies. For starters, it is operated by Danny Mellman, a well-traveled and experienced chef, he chose to put down roots here to avoid the hectic life of a big city. He churns out excellent dishes at his Italian restaurant, Cucina Rustica.
Start with a unique salad, the Treviso (similar to Radicchio), wood roasted with bacon and balsamic, fresh pear, walnuts and Gorgonzola. The hearty salad is perfect for sharing. There’s also a selection of carefully curated charcuterie that should not be missed.
