How do you beat the great September and October weather and gorgeous mountain scenery in Blue Ridge, Georgia? Combine it with a great live music scene happening at dozens of venues and outdoor festivals around the area! One of the best things is that you can combine the beautiful  scenery with outdoor live music events, or stroll through quaint downtowns in Blue Ridge and McCaysville and grab a bite along with local musical performances. Outside or inside, a weekend or week long getaway to Blue Ridge wouldn’t be complete without checking out one of the performances, concerts and music festivals happening every weekend.

Live Music Outside:
Bring a picnic and spread a blanket for Pickin’ in the Park in Horseshoe Bend, a beautiful riverside park near McCaysville, GA for live Bluegrass jam sessions through September. Over Labor Day Weekend lots of outdoor live music is happening at Bear Claw Vineyards Live Music Concert, Serenberry Vineyards, Cartecay Vineyards Crush Festival, and the Annual Labor Day BBQ & Gospel Music Show in downtown Blue Ridge City Park. If sipping a craft brew and tapping your feet to a rocking band is more your style, Blue Ridge is home to two great craft breweries, Fannin Brewing Company and Grumpy Old Men Brewing, and both offer live music on weekends on their outdoor patios (along with craft brew tastings). Black Sheep Restaurant Bar & Patio has a tasty weekend music and happy hour scene. And it’s not unusual to see musicians performing during the weekend days along Main Street in Blue Ridge.

Blue Ridge Blues & BBQ Music Festival Sept. 14-15

The biggest music festival weekend of the year happens over September 14-15 with the Blue Ridge Blues and BBQ Music Festival. It’s a whole weekend of musical fun beginning on Friday with the Blue Ridge Blues Crawl and Rotary Blues Train (unusual fun… you can ride the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway and hear roving musicians on the ride). Then a whole day of great live blues in downtown Blue Ridge on Saturday at the Blue Ridge Blues and BBQ Music Festival. BBQ from the best Que cooks in the South pairs perfectly with down home live blues bands.
