You are invited to downtown Blue Ridge for Labor Day Bar-B-Q Weekend. Bring your family and friends to share the Spirit of community fellowship and fun August 30 through September 1, 2014. On Monday, 11:30-6, enjoy the 33rd annual Labor Day Bar-B-Q with all the fixins served with Gospel and Blue Grass by tri-state area groups. Plan to bring your lawn chair and stay a while to enjoy the talent that includes in order of appearance: Hogsed Brothers, River Park Blue Grass, Leap of Faith, Cartecay River , SOAP Praises and the Caylor Family.
The drive-thru service is back by popular demand Summit St from East Main. Your dinner plate includes meat, coleslaw, pickles, baked beans, bread, Mercier apple and pound cake or brownie for dessert and tea. Prices for St.Louis Style Rib plate is twelve dollars, chicken plates are ten dollars and pulled pork sandwich plate is nine dollars. Presale tickets for the barbecue dinners are available from participating churches, Fannin Chamber of Commerce, Boo Bear Bake Shop on Hwy 5 North and American Wholesale Print Shop on Appalachian Hwy. Tickets may also be purchased in the park on Labor Day.
The outdoor Community Worship Service scheduled Sunday evening from 6 to 7:30 at 6:00 in the park is followed by an old-fashioned Ice Cream Social sponsored by the Blue Ridge DQ Grill & Chill. Come stay a while to visit old friends and make some new friends.
On Saturday from 9 to 1:00 pm come to the "PIC-NIC-NIC in the Park". Church groups and nonprofits are invited to share in a joint community fundraising opportunity. Come rummage thru NIC-NACs for sale and PIC-NIC in the park with breakfast or lunch from the Good Samaritan concession stand. Church or nonprofit groups interested in setting up sale tables call 706-273-1092 for information.
